Blog 9: The Matrix revised

The matrix is a great movie in many ways. It shows how people can be envious and cruel but most of all ignorance plays a big part in the movie. Even though it is clearly fictional the theme is the most important mainly because it gives us a great lesson to be taught. The moral of the movie is be careful with what you wish for because it can lead you to a different direction in life.

The Matrix is about a guy named "Neo" who is a computer programmer and also hacker and is invited to join the 3rd world by leader of the matrix “Morpheus” by giving him to opportunity to either join the 3rd world or remain in ignorance for the rest of his life. In reality we as humans are always given the chance to choose what we want in life and choose if we want to stick with it for the rest of our life. The right choice may not always be picked at first but most of the time we get the opportunity of a second chance. The most famous scene of the movie is when main character “Neo” is being offered the opportunity to either choose a red pill or the blue pill. The blue pill which will allow him to go back to his regular life and remain in ignorance, and the red pill which gives him the opportunity to join the new world and see for himself how it is. Like every other human person would do he chooses the red pill to see if the other world the “3rd world” is better or not.

In the matrix the machines chose modern capitalism as the ultimate way of controlling the human mind. An issue that can relate to the illusory category is probably the conspiracies that were told about the year 2012. The one famous conspiracy is that there will be a new world order in the year 2012. The movie's critique does go far enough because it gives a real good example of a new life existence. Not exactly but it gives us an idea of a futuristic utopia. The scene in the movie where Cipher imagines the beautiful well-done steak prepared for him to eat shows an example of reality and illusion. The steak he imagined was not actually there but he imagined it and ate the whole steak. What his brain perceived was a well-done steak and that's what he got. In reality the only illusion we ever experience is when we sleep and have dreams. Sometimes when we are dreaming and we don't even know it until you awaken. Same thing as the movie when the people were put into those machines they were in fact dreaming but whatever occurred to them in the dream would occur to them in real life. Such as the scene where Cipher pulls the plug and kill 2 of the characters in the matrix. In the dream the characters die and in reality they die also.

The main plot of the movie deals very much with the main character of the movie. "Neo" the main character chooses between a hard decision to either live in the life he knows as or to learn the truth. Once "Neo" decides to "learn the truth" he starts to train himself in the new world and becomes one of the strongest people in the matrix.
The conflict of the movie is the character "Cipher" which is in the Matrix already but decides he wants to go against it and live in the real world. So he starts to causes major damage in the matrix. The reason of all the chaos is because he is jealous of character "Neo" and he wants revenge. So as revenge he causes major damage and the worst thing he tries to do is attempt to kill "Neo". While everything was happening the leader "Morpheus" is in danger and is slowly dying. So character “Tank” the operator kills Cipher and saves Neo and Trinity. When Neo was finally saved he got the ability to look in the future and realized that there is still hope to save the leader “Morpheus”. Once he did save him was when he realized he is the chosen one.

The character "Oracle" is very important because without her the individuals in the matrix wouldn't have any talent and techniques. The Oracle gives you the ability to build your own obtain your abilities and realize many extraordinary things such as the future.
