Blog 3: The Matrix Analysis

The matrix does in fact have a limitation in the movie of male/female. There is only 2 females and the rest are gentlemen. The movie and the "Allegory of the cave" kind of base on the same subject. The illusion of the world they live upon. In the movie "The Matrix" there are 2 kind of worlds, one that is supposively a dreamworld utopia and the other world which is real life which in the movie is considered the opposite of utopia.

The Matrix is basically about a guy named "Neo" who is a computer hacker and people from the 3rd world which is the matrix find him and want to bring him into their world. Neo starts having these illusions in the beginning of him being followed by mobsters and in the illusions everything would go wrong. Then one day he is taken to the leader of the matrix which is "Morpheus". Morpheus plays a really important character in the story because he was the one who brought up the matrix. So Morpheus reveals to "Neo" the 3rd world and has a choice to either live in ignorance and stay in the real world or go and start a new life in the utopian world. This relates to the "Allegory in the cave" in many ways because of the ignorance and the decision to either live in ignorance or not. The character "Oracle" is very important because without her the individuals in the matrix wouldn't have any talent and techniques. The Oracle gives you the ability to build your own obtain your ablities and realize many extraordinary things in the matrix.

In the matrix the machines chose modern capitalism as the ultimate way of controlling the human mind. An issue that can relate to the illusory category is probably the conspiracies that were told about the year 2012. The one famous conspiracy is that there will be a new world order in the year 2012. The movie's critique does go far enough because it gives a real good example of a new life existence. Not exactly but it gives us an idea of a futuristic utopia. The scene in the movie where Cipher imagines the beautiful well-done steak prepared for him to eat shows an example of reality and illusion. The steak he imagined was not actually there but he imagined it and ate the whole steak. What his brain perceived was a well-done steak and that's what he got. In reality the only illusion we ever experience is when we sleep and have dreams. Sometimes when we are dreaming and we don't even know it until you awaken. Same thing as the movie when the people were put into those machines they were in fact dreaming but whatever occurred to them in the dream would occur to them in real life. Such as the scene where Cipher pulls the plug on one of the female characters. She dies in the dream and also dies in reality.

The main plot of the movie deals very much with the main character of the movie. "Neo" the main character chooses between a hard decision to either live in the life he knows as or to learn the truth. Once "Neo" decides to "learn the truth" he starts to train in the new world and becomes one of the strongest people in the matrix.
The conflict of the movie is the character "Cipher" which is in the Matrix already but decides he wants to go against it and live in the real world. So he starts to causes major damage in the matrix. The reason of all the chaos is because he is jealous of character "Neo" because he gets all the attention and he's the chosen one in the matrix. So as revenge he causes major damage and the worst thing he tries to do is attempt to kill "Neo". While everything was happening the leader "Morpheus" is in danger and is slowly dying. So the matrix people happen to kill Cipher and go on the rescue to save him.
